Here’s an insightful conversation with Kiran Abbavaram about his upcoming mystery thriller KA, set to hit theaters on December 31, 2024:
Q: Tell us about KA.
Kiran: Directors Sandeep and Sujith have crafted a story full of unpredictable twists. It’s set against a ’70s backdrop, which brings a fresh feel, and they’ve executed it in an innovative way. I’m confident audiences will connect with the story. People often assume the title, KA, is connected to my initials, but it actually holds a deeper meaning, revealed in the climax.
Q: Tell us about your character.
Kiran: I play Abhinaya Vasudev, a postman in the rural village of Krishnagiri in 1977. Growing up in a village myself, I related to the role. This character is unique, and I put effort into capturing authentic speech and mannerisms from that era to bring it to life.
Q: You mentioned the climax is unique. Can you elaborate?
Kiran: We approached the climax in a way that hasn’t been done before. It’s fresh, and that’s why I told myself that if this film doesn’t feel original, I won’t continue in this genre. Some people have compared KA to Kantara or Virupaksha, but our story is purely psychological, with no devotional elements. It’s all about suspense, keeping viewers wondering about “who, what, and where.”
Q: Are you worried about spoilers since it’s a suspense thriller?
Kiran: A bit, yes. We hope the early audiences will respect the twists and keep them a surprise. I trust the media will support us with reviews that don’t give away any surprises.
Q: Your recent films didn’t meet audience expectations. How is KA different?
Kiran: I know fans were disappointed with my last two films, so we focused on making KA engaging and original. It has a distinct, rustic charm, and the suspense truly unfolds in the climax. We believe audiences will find it refreshing.
Q: How was it working with directors Sandeep and Sujith?
Kiran: Both Sandeep and Sujith were extremely focused and clear on set. They handled everything smoothly, from filming to post-production. Working with them was enjoyable, and I respect their dedication to creating something original.
Q: Tell us about the heroines.
Kiran: Thanvi Ram plays Radha, and she brings so much depth to her role, which in turn reveals more about my character. Nayan Sarika, who plays Satya Bhama, is my character’s love interest. Both actresses play vital roles in the story.
Q: What are your future plans?
Kiran: This year has been big for me—getting married and now KA’s release. I’ll take a short break after this and then start focusing on my next project.
With KA, Kiran Abbavaram promises a gripping, original story with a unique climax. The film is shaping up to be an exciting entry in the suspense thriller genre, and audiences are eagerly awaiting its release.
