Meenakshi: Working with Dulquer Salmaan was a fantastic learning experience. We come from different linguistic backgrounds, which meant we had to prepare and adapt to fully express the story’s nuances. The team was young, motivated, and very understanding, making it easy for both of us to perform at our best. Dulquer’s professionalism and humility are inspiring qualities.
Q: How do you feel about playing a middle-class wife in Lucky Baskhar?
Meenakshi: I can’t always play roles that are close to my age—I want to take on challenges. Playing Sumathi allowed me to portray a character that I may not get to explore later. I observed my mother and other relatives closely to bring authenticity to Sumathi, a woman who values family deeply over material pursuits. Their strength and dedication helped shape my portrayal of this role.
Q: What makes Lucky Baskhar special to you?
Meenakshi: Every cast and crew member knew this film was something special. Rithvik, who plays my son, was incredibly prepared and performed his scenes beautifully. The production team excelled at recreating the 1980s Bombay, and the technical crew brought each emotion and scene to life, making the setting feel so real and immersive.

Meenakshi: Mahesh has remarkable discipline, while Dulquer’s attention to detail and his dedication to preparation and humility make him stand out. His commitment inspired me to learn my Telugu lines and always put forth my best effort.
